Day TwentyThree - Psalm 128

One thing I like about the Psalms is that it is very poetic and vivid with its descriptions. With that said, I couldn't help but imagine baby olive trees sitting around a dining room table having dinner (:3b). Or a grapevine that covers the entire inside of a house (:3a). [What would that family portray look like?] Thankfully, it's not literal and it speaks volumes to what a life can be like if one fears the Lord. Have you ever been around an olive tree? Those things drop olives everywhere. And that's why this is such a perfect analogy: a child who prospers will "drop olives" wherever they go. Likewise, a grapevine not only grows but it clings to whatever surface its attached to and molds into every corner, bend, and crevice as if to say, "I'm going to hold this thing together no matter what." Oh, how wonderfully poetic the Psalms can be.
