Day Eleven - Psalm 140
:8 "Lord, do not let evil people have their way. Do not let their evil schemes succeed or they will become proud."
The Psalmist is asking God to step in because he's afraid of the consequences that will happen. But doesn't God already know this? Why is he informing God about what could go wrong if evil people get their way? I suppose it's no different than how some of us pray today... "You know, God, if X happens then Y will happen..." I don't know; this aspect of prayer is interesting to me. Why ask God something He already knows? Is it for our benefit? For His? Both?! After all, the Bible gives us plenty of examples of people changing God's mind via prayer... We think we know what's best for us and obviously God knows the bigger picture... but how often does it feel like we can't change His mind?
